I am new to ACAD and I checked the help but not sure what to search. How to. It means that your UCS is not parallel to the box (I assume a rectangle). That is, you are not looking squarely at the object. Here's an example: draw a square on a piece of paper. With both hands, hold the paper up directly in front of your face with your arms extended equally. All the lines will be square to your vision (user coordinate system). Now tilt the paper about 45 degrees. Now the rectangle will be 'not parallel' to your UCS. Some lines will appear shorter than they really are. If you cannot figure out what is wrong there are a couple things you could do: 1) First I'd use the following command: UCS -> WORLD 2) If you still can't change the rectangle, try UCS -> OBJECT -> Select the rectangle. This is not a true fix, therefore, you should probably do step 1 when you have finished with this step. Not knowing anything about your drawing, I'd recommend you rotate the object parallel to your UCS. However that may not make sense. It would be hard for me to know unless I saw what you were dealing with. Chances are step 1, above, will be the solution. Todd wrote in message news:[email protected]. I've been getting an error message I do not understand when I attempt to use the CHANGE command on a box. After initiating the CHANGE command, I attempt to select the box by clicking on it and the command window displays the following: 'Select objects: 1 found 1 was not parallel to the UCS.' What does this mean? What do I do to correct it? Edited by: adhall on Nov 18, 2009 10:42 PM. Todd, I had this problem again today, so I decided to check the relationship between the box and the XY plane. I used the DIST command to measure between two diagonal corners on the face that should be in that plane. It said 'Angle from XY plane = 0' and 'Delta Z = 0'. I was in the SW Isometric view at the time. I also tried the Top, Left, and Front views and got the same results. So why does AutoCAD think the object is not parallel to the UCS? As before, if I run the UCS command and set it to 'World', I can select the object without an error. Best regards, Andy Hall.
